The EnviroSoxx® Pollutant removal system of Mirr srl is able  to remove targeted pollutants from stormwater runoff, particularly in urban watersheds and sensitive receiving waters. The below applications are used to prevent the contamination of urban basins and water bodies from hydrocarbons, heavy metals, bacteria, and nutrients presents in fertilizers and pesticides used in agriculture.

The compost of Mirr srl, thanks to its chemical and physical characteristics gets a hold of water up to fifteen times its weight, in fact it acts as a sponge that gradually absorbs and releases water. Thanks to the wide availability of nutrients and organic matter the compost is inhabited by numerous colonies of bacteria, fungi, algae and protozoa. These organisms release enzymes that have the ability to catalyze oxidation reactions of a variety of different hydrocarbons and to contribute to mineralization of heavy metals . The principle is based on the ability of microorganisms to use organic polluted contaminants as a source of carbon and energy. The organic compounds can then be degraded to carbon dioxide and water, mineralized, or transformed into less toxic compounds.
