Mirr Srl proposes four compost-only applications for use on construction and post-construction sites. These applications provide coverage of the surfaces to be protected with a layer of compost sprayed in various thicknesses depending on the type of intervention.  According to The Soil & Water Connection, “Research in North Georgia has shown compost applied to the soil surface, in the form of a compost blanket, can absorb 80% of a 4-inch rainfall event, and in a similar study at the same location compost blanket applications absorbed 100% of a 3-inch rainfall event for some replications…A one-year university study conducted on construction site soils (disturbed, compacted sandy clay loam) evaluated the storm water and water quality effects of a 2-inch compost blanket relative to hydromulch on replicated field research plots. Compost blankets reduced runoff volume by 50%, peak runoff rate by 36%, total sediment loads by 80%, nitrate-nitrogen loads by 88%, and total and soluble phosphorus loads by 83%.” Easily combine compost blankets, covers, and strips with other Soxx applications for superior site management.
